Knowing what clothing and gear you need to stay safe and be comfortable when bushwalking in Tasmania can be a challenge.
Our weather is famously unpredictable all-year around – especially in the mountains above 1000m – so you need to be prepared for sun, rain, wind and snow.
Surprisingly for such a small state, many of our walking areas are quite remote, often without mobile phone/cell reception. Therefore help can be quite a distance away if you find yourself in an emergency.
What gear to take will naturally be dictated by the length and difficulty of the walk, your level of experience and of course your own preferences and budget. Our gear lists work for us, for the kind of walking we do. So while they likely won’t be a perfect fit for your needs, hopefully they’ll give you a good starting point to perfecting your own!
